EXTRA CREDIT OPTION 2

enter juried competitions

Enter design competitions, juried exhibitions, or other art/communications/design-related exhibitions. This is worth the most extra credit as long as the competitions are viable and résumé-worthy.

STEP 1: You must e-mail me (narnell@astate.edu) at least a paragraph explaining why you believe this competition is worthwhile and applicable to your line of study in graphic design.  Include links to the site or copy/paste the information in the e-mail.

STEP 2: Save tickets or other collateral from the event and/or take a screenshot of the screen or photo with your phone. Label the file something with your last name on it and Direct Message me with it. If you have already entered a competition this year (NEA Addy’s), then you are done after you provide the afore mentioned!
DUE by last day of scheduled class before final. But I highly suggest you do it ASAP!

COMPETITIONS: You can easily browse the Internet to find graphic design contests, but here are a few to get you started. I am unsure about timing on these shows, so see what you can find!:
  • Addys: From AAF (American Advertising Federation or "Ad Fed") >>> AAF-NEA (Northeast Arkansas) Addys
  • AIGA List of Design Competitions!

OR you can go the more traditional route by entering a juried art exhibition.  Graphic design does have a place here, but it is somewhat harder to figure out how.  A couple of places for this are artdeadline.com and callsforartists.com.

Ask Prof. Nikki if you have questions.
DUE by last day of scheduled class before final.
